Xbox360 and Zune vs iPod

I think that MS wants to compete with the iPod, they should hit Apple where it husts. The Xbox 360 (or it's sequel) should use a memory card system based on the Zune line of players.

First, they'd need to introduce a Zune Shuffle, which would be the entry-level storage card, but it would support all the Zunes, and take advantage of them. The idea behind this is you'd store your xbox preferences and savegames on your Zune.

Once this is in place, MS can enable all sorts of cool things that the iPod can't. For example, imagine being able to use the Zune's wireless to gift/trade weapons to your friends at school (or at work). Imagine being able to download a game's soundtrack from the game to your Zune. Imagine buying Guitar Hero tracks for the game, and paying a bit extra to get the MP3 of it at the same time (instantly added to your Zune, of course). The list is endless: custom playlists playing in your favorite games, Showing of achivements to your friends at school using the Zune.

The interesting part is that it would shift all the gamers out there onto the Zune if they wanted to take advantage of everything the 360 has to offer. Players could still use the Zune Suffle if they wanted, but they really wouldn't get any of the advantages that having a full Zune with a screen and wireless would give them.

I think this would give Zune a shot in the arm, for sure.
